Curry Shrimp and Grits


This is my Simple DIY Curry Shrimp and Grits video

plus directions how to prepare a simple, quick, dinner or lunch dish.  In this recipe it calls for 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp curry powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder,  3 to 4 large cooked shrimp,  1/4 cup grits, and 8oz. water (optional: 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper)  Note: fresh shrimp can be substituted for cooked, but make sure they are clean and deveined.  Also when using fresh shrimp they can be at ten minutes instead of 15 minutes.)

Here are some other ways to prepare curried shrimp and grits:

1. For a non-dairy way to prepare curried shrimp and grits, try using vegetable broth instead of water. Start by heating the vegetable broth in a saucepan over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, add the curry powder, garlic powder, and optional cayenne pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until they are just done.

2. To make a vegan version of curried shrimp and grits, try using coconut milk instead of water. Start by heating the coconut milk in a saucepan over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, add the curry powder, garlic powder, and optional cayenne pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until they are just done.

3. Another way to make a dairy-free version of curried shrimp and grits is to use almond milk. Start by heating the almond milk in a saucepan over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, add the curry powder, garlic powder, and optional cayenne pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until they are just done.

4. For a low-calorie version of curried shrimp and grits, try using a vegetable or chicken broth that is low in sodium. Start by heating the broth in a saucepan over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, add the curry powder, garlic powder, and optional cayenne pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until they are just done.

5. To add some extra flavor to your curried shrimp and grits, try adding some diced fresh vegetables. Start by heating the water in a saucepan over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, add the curry powder, garlic powder, and optional cayenne pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Add the diced vegetables and cook until they are just done. Then add the shrimp and cook until they are just done.
